FU MANCHU To Release New EP In November

October 10, 2006

Legendary SoCal quartet FU MANCHU will issue a new EP, "Hung Out To Dry", on Nov. 28. The four-track release will contain two songs from their forthcoming tenth studio album, a cover of VAN HALEN's "D.O.A." and an original track exclusive to the EP, which will be limited to 3,000 copies worldwide. It can be pre-ordered for $6 at this location. (Please note that the image is not the actual cover art.)

To make the EP even more appealing, the band's American label, Liquor and Poker Music — the rock imprint of Century Media Records — will release the "Hung Out" EP in a unique dual format. Nicknamed "The Deuce", the gatefold seven-inch single will also include a compact disc. The track listing is as follows:

CD EP:

01. Hung Out To Dry (album version)
02. Between The Lines (album version)
03. Never Again (EP exclusive)
04. D.O.A. (EP exclusive)

Seven-inch:

A. Hung Out To Dry (album version)
B. Between The Lines (album version)

"This EP is a small sampling of what's to come," says founding member Scott Hill (vocals/guitar). "I think the whole band wanted to get a little more aggressive with these new songs. I sure did. I'm a huge fan of old punk and hardcore, and those influences are starting to show.

"'Hung Out To Dry' was the first song we wrote as soon as we finished touring for our last record," he continues. "We kept playing the main riff throughout the year while we were on tour. Bob (Balch, guitars) and I pulled out the old fuzz pedal to get a dirty tone. 'Between The Lines' and 'Never Again' were written to beats that (drummer Scott) Reeder would play. Once Reeder gets going, it's hard to stop him. Listen closely — he even screams in the break in 'Between The Lines'."

The "Hung Out" EP was co-produced by Andrew Alekel (WEEZER, RANCID, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) and the band themselves. Recording took place at Hollywood's Grandmaster Recorders (TOOL, NINE INCH NAILS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE),while finishing touches were added at Oasis Mastering by Gene Grimaldi (VELVET REVOLVER, PENNYWISE, REV. HORTON HEAT).

In their first performance in 10 months, FU MANCHU will debut new material from both the "Hung Out" EP and their as-yet-untitled new full-length at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, Calif. on Nov. 16. A flier is posted on the band's MySpace page, www.myspace.com/fumanchu.
